At our next book club meeting we remember the remarkable career of writer Edna O'Brien (1930-2024) by inviting members to choose one of her many novels to read - or reread! - and come along to discuss it and compare notes among friends.
There is plenty to relish in a writing career that spanned six decades, from the revolutionary The Country Girls (1960) to her final novel Girl (2019). So, choose your novel and join us at Wirströms at 18.00 on Wednesday September 18th!
Note: No need to register.
Fully booked! Register for the waiting list.

KNEECAP!!!
Join us for an exclusive preview screening of one of the most talked about films of 2024, Kneecap!
When fate brings Belfast schoolteacher JJ into the orbit of self-confessed ‘low life scum’ Naoise & Liam Óg, the needle drops on a hip hop act like no other. Rapping in their native Irish language, KNEECAP fast become the unlikely figureheads of a Civil Rights movement to save their mother tongue. But the trio must first overcome police, paramilitaries & politicians trying to silence their defiant sound - whilst their anarchic approach to life often makes them their own worst enemies.
In this fiercely original sex, drugs and hip-hop biopic KNEECAP play themselves, laying down a global rallying cry for the defense of native cultures.
-----
Kneecap premiered at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival on 18 January, the first film in the Irish language to do so, where it won the NEXT Audience Award. Its Irish premiere at the 36th edition of the Galway Film Fleadh, won Best Irish Film, the Audience Award and the Irish Language Feature Film Award.
Kneecap now has the honour of representing Ireland at the next Academy Awards. IFTA Academy CEO, Áine Moriarty said: “The Irish Academy is delighted to announce Kneecap to represent Ireland in the Oscar International Feature Film category. What a brilliantly creative powerhouse of a film, with its bold and fearless storytelling and its raw and boisterous screen performances."

Welcome! Céad Mile Fáilte! Välkommen!
Join us for a crab buffet lunch in Stockholm. The buffet includes beautiful wild Atlantic crab from Donegal, Ireland, served with bread, cheese, salad, followed by tea/coffee and something sweet.
We hope to arrange a short session of céilí dancing after the lunch. Céilí dancing is traditional group dancing from Ireland and you will be very welcome to join in even if you've never tried before!
If you don't eat crab you are still welcome to join us. You will order from the regular menu and pay the restaurant directly. You still need to register so we know how many are joining as numbers are limited.
The crabs are very kindly sponsored by Seasam Food AB, who import these and other delicious seafood to Sweden. If you can't make the lunch, these Irish crabs are available in larger supermarkets under the brand name "Ullmo". Read more about them here: Seasam/Ullmos sortiment inkl krabba.
Our always popular annual Christmas dinner returns!
It’s always a great night of Swedish and Irish traditions with new and old friends.
Join us to get a taste of "home away from home". A welcome drink will be followed by a Swedish Christmas buffet with an Irish touch. We've even arranged for a certain special very dark Irish beverage to be available...
For entertainment we usually have a raffle with great prizes, traditional carol singing, and if we're lucky, live music by a local trubadour.
The location couldn't be more central - a stone's throw from T-centralen, in the atmospheric and charming Läkarsällskapet hus (built 1904-6).
Strengthening the cultural bonds between Sweden and Ireland – and having fun while we do it!
