Celebrating 75 years of the Swedish-Irish Society!Call for submissions for ”From There To Here”As you know, we are celebrating our 75th anniversary this year. To mark the occasion, we are producing a commemorative booklet in collaboration with journalist and author Philip O’Connor. We plan to launch the booklet at our 75th celebration on the 28th September. We are now inviting written submissions from you - our members, or maybe past members - telling of your experiences in the Swedish-Irish Society – how you came to be in Sweden, how you discovered the Swedish-Irish Society and what being involved with the Society has meant to you. It might be a person you met, a place you visited or an event that you attended, or something happening in Sweden or in Ireland that you felt more (or less!) connected to by being part of this Society. What is important is that it gives us insight into your unique experiences, whatever they may be. We would also be very interested in older photographs or memorabilia you may have related to the Society. All written submissions will be reviewed and edited for inclusion in the booklet/brochure, which will be produced in an electronic format primarily. Some physical copies may also be produced, time and budget permitting. How to make a submission: What: We would like from you is a written piece of no more than 1,000 words in whatever format you choose - poetry or prose. Photographs to accompany the text are also very welcome. When: Submit by 31st How: By email to philip*at*eblana.se, with a copy to us, info*at*swedishirish.se. (Replace *at* with @!) Write “From There To Here” as the subject line. Photographs or information about memorabilia, without written submissions, may be sent directly to us, info*at*swedishirish.se. Next stage: All submissions will be appraised and we will aim to be as inclusive as possible. Those submissions to be included will be informed by e-mail. Please note that, by submitting the work, you are agreeing to allow the Society to reproduce it in electronic and printed formats for the purpose of celebrating its 75th anniversary. |
